25 years.

In some ways, life has gone on and we forget. But in other ways, the most important ways, we can’t forget 9/11/2001.

We will never forget the moments we were glued to the TV. And the moments we watched brave men and women be heroic.

May we be heroic today and run to help others, just like those who ran to help that day.

The documentaries and news reports have been moving and incredible today. Thank you to those who still pursue truth with news also.

Attention Tennessee Public Educators! Enroll in Online Dyslexia Courses for FREE!

The MTSU Center for Dyslexia at Middle Tennessee State University is excited to announce that, with funding from the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE), all currently employed Tennessee educators of K-5 students now have FREE access to two online, asynchronous courses titled Dyslexia in K-2 and Dyslexia in the Upper Elementary Grades. Once enrolled, users will enter background information then complete a brief pre-assessment. Users will then be separated into cohorts; the first cohort will gain access course content in fall 2026, and the second cohort will gain access to course content in spring 2027.

The goal of these courses is to better equip educators of K-5 students to identify risk indicators and characteristics of dyslexia among students in kindergarten through fifth grade (i.e., K-5) and to serve these students through a structured literacy instructional approach.

If you are currently employed by a Tennessee public school, you must first obtain a TDOE passkey.

So thankful for my families who have been patient with scheduling this fall! Moving students from summer to fall is a beast!

However, I’ve also been working on something else too! Today, I passed the International Dyslexia’s KPeeri exam to move towards being a dyslexia interventionist.

Don’t worry, I already provide excellent support for my students with dyslexia, but more formality isn’t bad!

Knocking out some training now that I have a break from Master's classes. This micro-credential further supports that EBLI Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction aligns with IDA standards for structured literacy. I'm so thankful for reading intervention that works!
