Love music? Passionate about helping others? Join us for our live, Virtual Music Therapy Q & A on Thursday, October 15th at 7:00pm. Hosted by Professor Emily Guthe and current members of the CSU Student Music Therapy Club, this session is designed for high school students and families to discover what music therapists do every day!

This semester, CSU's Department of Music Therapy is collaborating with our friends in Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy to bring music to the PLAAY on the Move families! Our Music Play Days will involve students and faculty from interdisciplinary teams interacting and supporting families and kiddos as they explore movement in adaptive cars and harness systems. Our first class is Thursday, September 24th!

New Pres. Who dis?
Lily comes back to student group as President this year! After talking for an hour about how much she loves being a part of student group she summed it up by saying that she loves that student group allows her to branch out and get to know everyone. 💛

Daisy makes her greatest comeback of the season and appears this year as Vice President. When we asked Daisy why she likes being it student group she 1) jumped up and down because she was so excited to tell us and 2) said, "I love being a part of student group because of the community we have fostered with one another. This community of people is supportive and very special. Take advantage of it while you're here :)"

New Year. New Student Exec Board.
Introducing: Evelyn! Evelyn joins our student executive board this year as secretary. The best notetaker this side of the Cuyahoga River. We asked Evelyn why she likes being a part of our student group. Here's what she had to say...
"I like being in student group because everyone is so welcoming and encouraging to each person. I think it's so great that we have such a tight-knit community and that everyone makes an effort to make each other feel included."

We are SO excited to welcome Dr. Kelly Carlson to our Department of Music Therapy team as Visiting Assistant College Lecturer this year!
Dr. Carlson has been a music therapist for over 21 years, and has worked and supervised music therapists with a wide variety of populations including early intervention, children in schools with special needs, adults with ID/DD, memory care, rehabilitation, substance abuse, and hospice care. Dr. Carlson's research interests include the use of intuition in clinical decision-making, professional well-being of music therapists, and historical research into the development of the music therapy field. This is Dr. Carlson's 3rd first year of teaching at the University level, and her head is spinning as she and her family relocated to Cleveland from Iowa with a week's notice. In her free time, Dr. Carlson loves animals, gardening, and spending time with her two children and husband.
