Spirit Fiber Works, LLC is a for profit organization created to support fiber growers and fiber artists with educational fiber processing and an outlet for selling locally grown products. A homeschool group joined us Saturday for a fun day of drop spinning and medieval weaving!

The craft course was scripture-centered, revolving around a Bible study of Matthew 25:31–46.

We had such a wonderful time sharing these fiber arts with the girls, and they each went home with some beautiful handmade crafts of their own. We love getting to share the knowledge of the crafts that people relied on to make their own clothes throughout history!

Today Logan was cleaning the carding machine!

The big drum on this machine gradually gets packed with fiber, which makes it harder for the machine to do its job. Every so often, it needs a good, painstaking cleaning to get all that fiber out!

This girl ended up with an esophageal blockage, so we gave her neck a gentle massage to help work it loose. Thankfully, everything turned out just fine!

Seeing a llama with a blockage can be alarming, but unlike choking in humans, they’re still able to breathe. Instead, food becomes lodged in the esophagus, making it difficult to swallow.
