This summer, several Saint Ignatius students traveled to Boston to participate in Boston College's Ever to Excel program, spending the week learning, growing, and exploring life on a Jesuit campus. They were welcomed by Saint Ignatius alumnus Greg Friel '25 (Boston College '29), who returned to serve as a mentor for the program.

This past weekend, our community came together in celebration of the feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola (July 31) and gathered for Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Chapel on both Friday and Sunday. We were delighted to welcome Fr. Andrij Hlabse, S.J. '02 back to campus to preside in Friday's Mass celebration. Thank you to all who were able to join us in prayer and fellowship.

Today, we honor the Feast of St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus and namesake of Saint Ignatius High School.

His life and teachings continue to inspire our mission to form young men who are open to growth, intellectually competent, religious, loving, and committed to working for peace and justice. May we continue to follow his example by living with faith, serving others, and leading with love.

We invite the entire Saint Ignatius community to join us on campus this Sunday, August 2, at 10:30, as we celebrate the Feast Day together. Space is limited, so advance registration is requested. Earlier this summer, 10 Saint Ignatius students traveled to Nogales, Arizona, and Nogales, Mexico, with Mr. Ed DeVenney and Mr. Brian Burtka, S.J., for an immersive mission trip experience.

Partnering with the Jesuit Kino Border Initiative, our Wildcats met with migrants and asylum seekers, listened to their stories, and gained a deeper understanding of the realities of migration and the complexities of the U.S.-Mexico border. They also accompanied the Kino team in providing humanitarian services, visited organizations serving border communities, and reflected on how they are called to live out the Gospel through compassion, justice, and solidarity.

Preparing students for life beyond Saint Ignatius, one connection and opportunity at a time.

This year, 40 students applied for the Saint Ignatius Internship Program, with each student participating in a first-round interview conducted by one of our trusted professional alumni. Each of these students was presented with a recording of their interview and feedback to prepare for future interviews. Selected students then advanced to interviews with participating employers for 11 internship opportunities across nine companies.

Last Friday, student interns, company partners, and alumni interviewers gathered on campus to network, share feedback, and celebrate the relationships that make this program possible. Thank you to our FrantzWard intern, Luke Murphy '27, who spoke about his experience and the program's benefits.

We are grateful to our alumni and corporate partners for investing their time, experience, and talents in our students. Their support provides Wildcats with valuable professional experience while helping them develop the confidence and skills needed for the future.

Coming into Full Communion in Front of a Full House

The spiritual and faith tradition on campus recently reached a major milestone. On April 15, 2026, Saint Ignatius High School celebrated its first-ever Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) at an all-school liturgy. Four students received the Sacraments of Baptism and eight students received the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation.

Held in Fr. Sullivan Gymnasium, Diocese of Cleveland Auxiliary Bishop Michael Woost ’76, celebrated the inaugural liturgy, which was granted with special permission from the Diocese, making this the first instance of Saint Ignatius students being initiated into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of initiation in the history of Saint Ignatius High School. Those eight students were freshmen Michael Mussman, Adrian Schwartzman, Kristian Lynch, Vincent Vanni, Mathias Turner, sophomore Ben Los, and juniors Chase Toth and Brayden Colleran.
