📚🎭 The Masked Reader has arrived at MAS! 🎭📚

Michigan Avenue Elementary kicked off our Accelerated Reader (AR) and Read-a-Thon, and Mrs. Stansell brought a little Masked Singer excitement to school! 🎤📖

A teacher (or teachers!) from each grade level stepped out in full costume as our Masked Readers and “read” clues and descriptions about mystery books. Our students had to put their reading skills to the test and guess both the book AND the masked teacher! 👀

From Pete the Cat to Charlotte’s Web to Harry Potter, our students were completely engaged, excited, and ready to make their guesses! 📚🐱🕷️⚡

It was the perfect way to get everyone fired up about reading, AR, and our upcoming Read-a-Thon! We can’t wait to see where our reading adventures take us this year!

A HUGE thank-you to all of our brave teachers who were willing to dress up, have some fun, and help us make reading something to get excited about! ❤️📚

Fifth grade scientists are investigating the particle makeup of each state of matter! 🔬🧪

Through hands-on exploration, students discovered WHY each state of matter has its own unique properties and behaves the way it does. From particle movement to spacing, our fifth graders are seeing science in action! 🧊💧💨

📚🎉 OUR READ-A-THON STARTS TOMORROW!!! 🎉📚

The countdown is over—our Read-A-Thon starts TOMORROW! We are so excited to get our students reading, growing, and having fun! 📖💙

📣 Families: Be sure to check your student’s folder for all the information you need to get started!

🎁 EVERY student who REGISTERS will receive a prize!
🍦 Students who raises at least $10 will receive FREE ice cream from the cafeteria!
🏆 And there are MORE prizes to come!

🧼🫧 Clean Hands, Healthy Kids! 🫧🧼

Our kindergarten students had a special lesson with Nurse Mollie this week! 🩷 After reading Sick Simon, Nurse Mollie taught our youngest Wolverines all about germs, staying healthy, and the importance of washing their hands the right way! 👏

Learning how to take care of ourselves is an important part of being safe and responsible at school—and these are skills our students can use every single day! 💙💛

A big thank you to Nurse Mollie for helping keep our students happy, healthy, and ready to learn! 🩺📚

📚 Summarizing in Second Grade!

Our second graders practiced the important skill of summarizing by writing a gist statement both individually and collaboratively in groups! 📝✨
