Help us welcome, Dr. Jeremiah Barker!

During the closing service of the 103rd International Assembly on Sunday, July 19, Bishop Dr. Jeremiah Barker was appointed International Director of Accredited Ministry Development and President of Spirit and Life Seminary for the Church of God of Prophecy.

Bishop Barker was saved at the age of 17 and began ministry in March 2002 at Christ Tabernacle Church of God of Prophecy in Sheridan, Indiana. He was licensed as a minister in May 2006 and ordained as a bishop in 2018.

Dr. Barker began his biblical studies at Calvary Cathedral Bible College in 2003, graduating in 2005 with an associate degree in Bible and Theology. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Lee University.

Desiring to continue his education, he enrolled at Pentecostal Theological Seminary, where he earned a master’s degree in Counseling. Although he initially believed he had gone as far as he would go academically, the Lord gave him a desire to continue. He enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program at Pentecostal Theological Seminary and graduated in May 2024.

He married his wife, Amanda, in December 2006. They have three children, Rebekah, Malachi, and Ariel. Together, they served for three years as pastors in Connersville, Indiana, before moving to Abingdon, Illinois, where they have served as pastors for the past 16 years.

Bishop Barker has also participated in ministry in Nicaragua, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, and Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland.

Bishop Barker is excited to serve the Church of God of Prophecy in this new role. He looks forward to establishing strong relationships throughout the nations and seeing many of our members continue their education and biblical studies.

He carries a burden for the younger generation to say yes to God’s call and to be equipped through Spirit and Life Seminary and the other educational partnerships available through Accredited Ministry Development. He looks toward the future with great expectation.

Today, we hosted a lunch for Spirit and Life Seminary and Tomlinson College students and graduates!

We are super excited to embrace the legacy that TC has left for SLS. We are truly honored to grab the baton and continue the mission that the Church of God of Prophecy has always had: to educate, equip, and send leaders out to reconcile the world to Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.

These moments remind us that graduation is more than receiving a diploma; it is the celebration of hard work and the calling God has placed on each student’s life. From joyful pictures to unforgettable memories, we are grateful for every graduate who has been part of the Spirit and Life Seminary family.

As we look back with gratitude, we also look forward with excitement to celebrating this year’s graduating class and all they have accomplished. The future is bright, and we can’t wait to honor the next group of graduates soon!

Last year, Spirit & Life Seminary decided to take the graduating class on a trip to Fields of the Wood. During this special time, we were reminded that our Seminary stands on a legacy of prayer and faith. From these sacred grounds where the vision of the Church of God of Prophecy was shaped, to our online classrooms where leaders are now being formed across the world, the same Spirit continues to guide the mission. We honor our roots as we prepare a new generation to serve, lead, and carry the Gospel forward.
