For those Ohioans who may see this on the news, please note that it was incorrectly inferred that this was a SigEp pledge. No matter what, it is a tragedy, but this did not happen with our chapter. Our hearts go out to the family of this young man.

How about this for having a sound mind? The Ohio Theta SigEps at University of Cincinnati had 27 members earn a 4.0 GPA last semester! The overall chapter GPA is 3.35. What a great testament to our cardinal principle of diligence!

Interesting discussion point from a well spoken SigEp alumnus.
"Researchers estimate that each year:
1,825 college students between the ages of 18 and 24 die from alcohol-related unintentional injuries, including motor-vehicle crashes
So, fraternities have been responsible for 40 deaths in the last 10 years? And we see over 1800 alcohol related deaths a year? So fraternities account for 0.25% of alcohol related deaths.
With 20,000,000 college students enrolled in college today, for the deaths to membership numbers to be proportional, you'd have to have ONLY 50,000 greeks on ALL college campuses [the number is likely over 350,000 in reality at any given moment]. Therefore, I submit that alcohol is not a problem in fraternities, but is a problem on colleges that fraternities apparently are inadvertently helping assuage by creating safer experiences for members."
