Challenge: Create a design proposal for a renovation and addition to the existing house that is responsible to the context (environmental, historical, cultural, social) of the existing one and a half story Tudor house and functional for current and future residents of the house.

Institute for Citizens & Scholars Selects Govvy Team of Hawken School for the first Carnegie Young Leaders for Civic Preparedness Fellowship!
The Institute for Citizens & Scholars has selected Imre ‘26, Amogh ‘26, Marko ‘26, Ethan ‘24, and Gavin ‘26 and their project, Govvy, for the inaugural Carnegie Young Leaders for Civic Preparedness fellowship. The Govvy team will join 500 promising young changemakers from 27 states who are committed to strengthening their communities and democracy.
Funded by a $2,050,000 grant from Carnegie Corporation, the program provides young leaders, ages 14–24, with $7,500 per team in project funding, stipends, mentorship, and access to a national network of peers and civic leaders to bring these programs to life.

Congratulations to the students in the Local Government and Cleveland History Macro for their first Macro challenge presentation of the year!
Students worked with Mary Manning, PK-12 Education Manager at the Cleveland History Center.
Challenge: Develop and lead two key components of Cleveland’s regional event for the Smithsonian National Youth Summit:
1. Workshop: Design and facilitate an interactive session that uses primary sources from the Cleveland History Center’s library to connect Cleveland with this year’s summit theme.
2. Discussion Space: Create an inclusive, structured environment that encourages participants to share perspectives, ask questions, look to the future, and engage deeply with the theme.

Congratulations to Amogh '26, who represented Ohio at the U.S. Amateur Team North (USATN) Chess Championship. Amogh is part of a 4 person team that won and will now represent Ohio in the national playoffs on May 4th, competing against the winning teams from California, New Jersey, and Texas. Congratulations, Amogh, and best of luck next week at nationals!
