Today we had an amazing visit from our forever family. The daughter, son and granddaughter of Mrs. Mattie King came today and brought pizza, chips, soda , juice, salad and brownies for every student and staff member at Valley View.

Just over two years ago we lost Mrs. King in the physical. What will always remain at Valley View is her ever loving spirit. Her name will forever be at our school’s entry. She will forever watch over our students as the cross the street and make their way into their school home.

There’s teacher appreciation. Principal appreciation. Secretary and nurses, bus drivers and custodians.

We want to take a moment to also celebrate our Dean of Students Mr. Barham. Manages all PBIS events, leads culture training, identifies academic supports and the director of boys night along with a host of other initiatives. Cheers to you

Wanted to give a huge shout out to our amazing partner, friend and role model

He currently teaches rugby to our young men among many of skills and gifts. Words can’t describe the impact he’s made in such a short amount of time. We are extremely proud of you and your accomplishments in and around our city. Couldn’t be more proud to hang your poster.

This Friday, from 5pm - 7pm we welcome families back to our annual “Mother/Son” Dance. We look forward to celebrating this special weekend with our young men and their mothers. Please sign the permission form that will be sent home today.

The Birmingham Children's Crusade, or Children's March, was a march by over 1,000 school students in Birmingham, Alabama on May 2–3, 1963. Initiated and organized by Rev. James Bevel, the purpose of the march was to walk downtown to talk to the mayor about segregation in their city.

Thank you for being focused today during today’s morning meeting. Challenge day questions will be about the March tomorrow at 8:30am.
