Another story from Steve Litt at the Plain Dealer shed some more light on how precisely the ~$8 million TIGER grant awarded to the Metroparks will be spent.

The nearly $8 million federal TIGER grant won in July by Cleveland Metroparks resulted from masterful collaboration and connect-the-dots thinking.

Lots of folks asking about the big Federal TIGER Grant that the MetroParks were awarded a few weeks back. It makes lots of key connections on existing trail networks which only adds to the utility of this grant award. Access for all is about safe, equitable access. Protected bike lanes make streets safe places for people of all ages and abilities.

Cleveland should give serious consideration to constructing protected bike lanes where appropriate, and should seek state and federal money to help pay for them, the editorial board writes.
