Ocoee Middle School is thrilled to announce that our Spike Out Cancer event is returning this November! This year, we hope to make an even greater impact by supporting a student and organization that are near and dear to our hearts.
Liam Hawk is an eighth-grade student at OMS who is currently battling brain cancer. We are also proud to support the Liv - In The Journey Foundation, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization named in honor of Olivia Weatherford. The foundation exists to “bless those families facing the unimaginable journey that is pediatric cancer, and supporting organizations that are working towards enriching the lives and enhancing the future of families in the midst of the cancer journey.”

All proceeds raised before and during this event will go directly toward supporting Liam and the Liv - In The Journey Foundation. We would love for you to join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in our community who have been impacted by cancer.

Ocoee Middle School is proud to announce the appointment of John Weiss as the new Head Wrestling Coach. Weiss brings a wealth of coaching experience and a proven record of success to the Ocoee wrestling program, as well as a passion for developing student-athletes and building a strong culture within athletics.
Weiss has coached at numerous schools throughout the area, with his longest tenure coming at Cleveland High School and Cleveland Middle School. Overall, Weiss amassed an impressive 185-65 head coaching record.
Weiss was also part of a historic Cleveland High School wrestling staff that compiled an incredible 200-3 dual meet record and captured eight consecutive state championships in both dual and traditional competition. His success at Cleveland also included being part of a coaching staff recognized as Southeastern Wrestling Staff of the Year.
Now, Weiss is excited to bring that experience and championship mindset to Ocoee Middle School.
“I am super excited to be trusted with taking over the Ocoee Wrestling Team and to continue to help change the culture in our athletics program,” Weiss said. “I’m looking forward to building something special with these young men and women, developing them both on and off the mat, and creating a program that Ocoee can be proud of.”
Weiss believes wrestling provides an opportunity to teach lessons that extend far beyond competition. Discipline, accountability, toughness, perseverance, and teamwork are values that will be emphasized throughout the program.
His appointment adds another piece to Ocoee Middle School’s continued commitment to building a strong athletic culture and providing student-athletes with opportunities to compete, grow, and succeed.

We hope our students, families, and staff enjoy a relaxing week and make some wonderful memories together! 💙
