Each school year, our Middle School students kick things off with a three-day, two-night campout at Camp Asbury. It’s a chance to step away from the classroom and connect with each other, with nature, and with the traditions that make Ruffing special. Through workshops and outdoor adventures, students build friendships, strengthen their community, and create memories that set the tone for the year ahead.

Montessori education nurtures intrinsic motivation and encourages children to take ownership of their learning. After completing his planet work—matching pictures and names to the correct planets—a first-year student was inspired to take his learning a step further by creating his own planet booklet.

5th year science students worked in teams to construct linguini towers using only dried pasta and tape. Every fifteen minutes, one person from each team switched to another team to assist and add design input, teaching both flexibility and how to work as a group.

This weekend we welcomed our new families to Ruffing to start building connections within our community. Our young children explored the playground while our kindergarten and elementary students had an opportunity to create in the Ruffing Design House studios. We are overjoyed to have 79 new students join us for the upcoming school year!
