PA has $13 BILLION in surplus/RAINY DAY fund.

The child care industry's rainy day is now. But they have been left soaking wet & on the verge of drowning because the child care staffing crisis is NOT addressed in the state budget bill.

We shared this today in PACCA’s Education and Policy Committee Budget Briefing. Three years, nearly 4,000 teacher openings in 1,100 early learning programs, 38,000 children on waiting lists! If not now when will we finally invest in child care. If we cannot pay early educators a living wage, we can’t staff our classrooms. We can’t create accessibility for working families!

Pennsylvania has nearly 4,000 unfilled child care jobs & 38,300 children on waitlists to receive child care services. If those jobs were filled we could make sure nearly every child on that waitlist had a spot.
