It’s time to meet the Class of 2030, starting with Sarah Spratlin Bullock.

Raised in a die-hard Georgia Bulldogs family, Sarah thought she knew exactly where she was headed—until Clemson changed the game. From cheering in London’s New Year’s Day Parade to discovering a passion for genetics, Sarah is bringing big energy, big goals and a love for getting involved to Clemson this fall.

For genetics and biochemistry May grad Sydney Greer, Clemson became more than just a place to earn a degree — it became the place where she discovered confidence in herself.

Whether she was performing with the Clemson University Steel Band, training service dogs for veterans, running trails through the Experimental Forest or conducting research in Dr. Shahid Mukhtar’s lab, Sydney embraced every opportunity to grow both as a scientist and as a person.

Dr. Amy Lawton-Rauh, senior associate provost and professor in the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry has been named a 2025 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, which is one of the highest honors in the scientific community.

Now, the Genetics and Biochemistry graduate is headed to Houston after matching with her top-choice genetic counseling program.

Dr. Robert Anholt is part of a new initiative at Clemson aimed at bringing researchers together across disciplines to study how life changes and persists in a rapidly shifting world.

The ecology and evolution initiative, led by faculty from multiple departments and colleges, seeks to connect scientists who have historically worked in separate spaces despite overlapping interests.

The Microbiology Society, together with the British Mycological Society recently announced that Dr. Stephen Dolan and graduate student Shafi Mondal as the joint winners of the 2026 Tony Trinci Award. As a part of the award, Dolan and Mondal travelled to the UK to present their award presentations at Microbiology Society’s annual conference.

In April, students from the Creative Inquiry led by Dr. Anderson, which developed a game similar to the New York Times Worldle to aid students in learning the twenty common amino acids, traveled to Anaheim, CA to present a poster about the game at the National Science Teacher Association conference.
