Congratulations to Anna Gibbs!

Anna will be one of five Clemson students chosen to represent the University at the 20th annual ACC Meeting of the Minds Undergraduate Research Conference this spring at Florida State University.

Anna Gibbs is a May Honors College graduate with a degree in political science. Gibbs presented her paper, “The Effect of Corporate Campaign Contributions on Earmarks Requested by the South Carolina House of Representatives,” which was done under the guidance of William Lasser, Alumni Distinguished Professor of political science.

The conference celebrates undergraduate research and creative inquiry at the 18 ACC member schools. Clemson will host the 2027 ACC Meeting of the Minds for only the second time in the history of the conference. Clemson hosted the first Meeting of the Minds in 2006.

Get to know the Political Science department better with our new faculty spotlight! This week is Dr Natan Teklemariam! Natan was born in Ethiopia but grew up in New York City. He is a self-described jungle master that over collects houseplants. He also enjoys traveling and having once co-owned a restaurant he loves to cook! Dr Teklemariam joined our department in 2023 after completing his PhD in Public Policy and Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University. We are lucky to call him part of the Clemson family!

Clemson students have arrived at the Midwest Political Science Association in Chicago! The students will present their quantitative research projects in international child rights, juvenile justice, media framing, and other key political phenomena.
