‼️New paper alert!!📣‼️
See our newest article published in the Journal of Economic Entomology by Clemson FNR | Clemson Extension's own Katy Crout Moretti. Katy did this work while getting her MS in Forest Resources in the Clemson Forest Health lab and found significant spatial relationships between attacking beetles, tree hosts, and patterns of infection by laurel wilt. We're excited to see what she does next!

So proud of the people who come through this lab. Crystal Anderson, a former MS student in the forest health lab, was nominated to write an article on navigating wildlife and forestry careers with Autism.
From the article, "There were times when setbacks led to frustration and self-doubt. However, each challenge was an opportunity to learn and grow. I learned to be patient with myself, to celebrate small victories, and to view setbacks as temporary obstacles rather than insurmountable barriers."
Crystal is now a Wildlife Biologist with the James C. Kennedy Waterfowl and Wetlands Conservation Center while also getting her PhD in Forest Resources showcasing her continued passion and drive for conserving our nation's natural resources. Thank you for all you do, Crystal!

"I picked natural resources because I love the outdoors and being able to make decisions that make a difference in the environment and the communities we serve. I wanted one moment in time when I was more than I thought I could be. The BLM gave me lots of those moments that will last for an eternity."

Very proud of our most recent paper coming out of the Clemson Forest Health lab. This was a multi-year collaboration with wonderful folks across the world to look at ways we can support women in forest health. This work has also led to sessions and workshops at international meetings as well as the beginnings of a mentorship program. We made sure that this paper was published Open Access through Forest Policy and Economics so it's available to anyone so please read and share! We're very excited to see what else this research inspires!

Congratulations to Prabina Sharma for defending her MS thesis yesterday! Prabina cut a *ton* (literally) of Callery pear to create a biomass equation for the invasive tree to help quantify the effects of Callery pear on the landscape. She also conducted the first community scale assessment of Callery pear pollinators in the southeast to work towards understanding the rapid spread of Callery pear. We are so excited to see Prabina blossom as a researcher! 🌸
