2017 Captains: Nathan Flaugher, Taif Albayati Ryan Hull There is a lot of work to be done with a very strict deadline.
The Clemson Steel Bridge Team designs and fabricates a 1:10 scale model bridge each year within the constraints of the ASCE/AISC guidelines. The bridge is then taken to compete at the Carolinas Conference where it is judged based on aesthetics and overall construction costs (number of builders, deflection, weight and time of construction). The Clemson Student Steel Bridge Team has arrived in Ames, Iowa!
This morning, the team kicked off their final prep for the AISC National Steel Bridge Competition with a practice build in the parking lot of the Hilton Garden Inn. Rain or shine, parking lot or arena.

Clemson civil engineering students are getting ready to compete in the ASCE Student Steel Bridge Competition during the 2025 Carolinas Student Symposium, which they’re proudly hosting April 10–12. They've been hard at work designing and assembling their bridge for a shot at nationals. Come cheer them on at Littlejohn Coliseum!
