Faculty Spotlight! 👏

Clemson Industrial Engineering’s Dr. Mary Kurz recently presented at the Material Handling Teachers Institute conference, sharing her experiences teaching and redesigning the department’s Facilities Layout and Design course.

Her presentation discussed how incorporating real-world problems and hands-on challenges can help students connect engineering concepts to practical design decisions. Her ongoing course redesign continues to improve the engineering classroom and emphasizes problem-based learning to students.

Congratulations to Dr. Emily Tucker, who received the Dr. Hamed K. Eldin Outstanding Early Career IE in Academia Award from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers.
 
Presented during the 2026 IISE Annual Conference and Expo in Arlington, Texas, the award recognizes early career IISE members in academia who demonstrate outstanding achievement in education, leadership, professionalism and contributions to industrial engineering.
