Congratulations to Clemson's most recent Student of the Game, Briggs Murray! Briggs was nominated by not one, not two, but three academic colleges for this recognition! 🥳

An Honors double major in Political Science and Modern Languages, Briggs is an integral part of our campus community. He's a National Scholar, Dixon Global Policy Scholar, Lead Writing Fellow at Clemson's Writing Lab, Editor-in-Chief of The Pendulum, Vice President of Every Campus a Refuge, and member of the CBSHS Student Advisory Board Social Media Committee.

Off-campus, Briggs has spent his summers living and learning in the emerging economies he hopes to serve in the future through a career in public service. As the University's first Boren Scholar since 2018, Briggs studied French in Dakar, Senegal at the West African Research Center. As a Critical Language Scholar, he studied Kiswahili in Arusha, Tanzania.

In all he does, Briggs is a friend and advocate. Way to go, Briggs! 🧡

Meet Clemson's 2026 National and Breakthrough Scholars! 👋

This year, we welcomed twelve Honors students into the University's premier scholarship programs. These cohorts represent four academic colleges, with interests ranging from philosophy and marketing to genetics, biochemistry, and engineering. Scholars were selected for their academic excellence, leadership and commitment to solving real-world challenges.⁣

Congratulations, scholars! We can't wait to see all you do here. 🧡

Honors criminal justice major Lanier Ashley won the 2026 Orientation Team Leader of the Year award for her service to Clemson, but most importantly, for her service to its people.

A strong believer in the Clemson community, Lanier made it her mission to make both incoming students and her orientation ambassador team feel like they belong at Clemson. As Assistant Director of New Student Orientation Averie Johnson-Walls said, "Lanier is truly a once in a lifetime team leader!" Congratulations, Lanier!
