Agricultural Education Student Spotlight:
I am Kinlyn Cherokee Hinson, I am originally from Antioch, South Carolina where I live on a sixth generation row crop farm. I attended Camden High School while also attending Woolard Technology Center to take agriculture courses. While farming gave me my love for agriculture the agricultural education courses helped me to expand the farm and my love for agriculture. During my senior year I decided to attend Clemson University as an agricultural education major. During my time here at Clemson I have been able to be part of multiple learning opportunities, organizations, and compete in various competitions to help further my idea of spreading my love for agriculture. I want to be the one to use what I know and what I grow to help bridge that gap between agriculture and the general public.

Teachers of Teachers Spotlight!
Pictured below Katie Gilson who taught Morgan Busbee at the Applied Technology Education Campus ( ATEC), now known as Woolard Technology Center (WTC). Gilson taught at ATEC from 2011-2018 before moving to Riverside Middle School where she now teaches. Busbee continued her education at Clemson University to become an agricultural educator at Bamberg Ehrhardt High School.
Busbee said she chose to be an agricultural educator because Gilson and her agriculture program completely changed her life by always pushing her out of her comfort zones and always encouraged her to take advantage of every opportunity offered by the FFA. Busbee says that Gilson is the one that pushed for her to be an agricultural educator and is her inspiration and will always strive to be even a fraction of what Gilson was for her.

Congratulations Mr. Gore! Clemson Teach Ag is extremely proud!
We’d like to introduce our next horticulture teacher/FFA Advisor- Mr. Gore. Mr. Gore will graduate from Clemson University in December, just in time for Mr. Ricketts’ announced retirement. He will officially take over second semester in January. Mr. Gore has extensive training in horticulture and turfgrass management and has worked at the Walker Golf Course at Clemson during his time there as a student. He was an active FFA member at Green Sea Floyds High School and is the son of one of Mr. Ricketts’ first students, Dale Gore . We are fortunate to have this Horry County native return to lead our agricultural education program here at Socastee High!
