Today, one of our great soldiers passed away. We don't often think of a woman in those terms, but are not all Christians enrolled in the army of the Lord. When either man or woman serves with distinction, it is appropriate to note their victory in death.

I have only known Carolyn Plunk about 5 years. But in those five years, as I was attempting to direct the North Carolina School of Biblical Studies, Carolyn was providing logistical support. She was in the background taking care that all of the financial support many of you gave not only reached the bank, but was accredited to the correct account of the person you were supporting. She was always patient with me in the gathering of receipts as I spent money to move the school forward. She provided us regular reports of all that the school was doing financially.

But her value was so much more. She regularly remembered each of the students and teachers in her prayers. She was a financial supporter of students. She was a great encourager both in word and tongue as well as in deed and truth. This last showed in years before my acquaintance with her as she and a few other godly ladies provided regular meals for the students. It also showed in her desire to grow in knowledge by attending classes of all kinds offered at the school. Everywhere that I turn and talk with those who knew her, I grow in my faith because of the example of her faith.

Someone told me today that if her work was a depiction of her heart, her reward with God is sure. I pray to one day be able to talk with her again in a better setting than this earth.
