🌍✨ Did You Know? — Around the World, This Week Holds Special Meaning!
This week is often known as Holy Week or Passover Week — a time when cultures around the globe pause to reflect, gather, and celebrate in meaningful ways.
Although this season is deeply rooted in religious traditions, it also highlights beautiful customs, community gatherings, and family traditions that differ from place to place.
Here’s a little snapshot of how this week is honored worldwide:
🕊️ Good Thursday (Maundy Thursday)
In Spain, this day is marked with solemn processions and reenactments of the Last Supper, while in the Philippines, churches hold "Visita Iglesia" — visiting seven churches in one evening.
✝️ Good Friday
In many Latin American countries, entire towns come together for silent parades and passion plays. In Bermuda, families fly kites symbolizing Christ’s ascension.
🌌 Holy Saturday
In Poland, families gather for the blessing of Easter baskets, a tradition known as Święconka, where baskets are filled with symbolic foods and brought to church.
🌸🥚 Easter Sunday
Across the U.S., children hunt for colorful eggs and enjoy family meals, while in Greece, it’s common to exchange red-dyed eggs and break the Lenten fast with a midnight feast.
