Please bring the following documents:

✅ Birth Certificate
✅ Social Security Card
✅ Current Immunization (Shot) Records
✅ Parent/Guardian Driver's License or Government-Issued ID
✅ Two Current Proofs of Residency

To help make the process as quick and easy as possible, please complete the online registration through the Parent Portal before coming to the Administration Building. We will also have laptops available if you need assistance completing the online portion.

Hello, RVISD families! 👋 I'm Karina, your Director of Child Nutrition Services, and I wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes look at how we're planning exciting new menu items for the upcoming school year!

Earlier this month, I had the privilege of attending the Texas Association for School Nutrition Annual Conference. While the educational sessions were fantastic, one of my favorite parts was participating in culinary classes focused on bringing fresh, creative menu ideas back to our students.

One class, led by Chef Kevin Jenkins of Garland ISD, introduced an incredible resource created by 12 K-12 chefs from across Texas—a cookbook featuring more than 60 standardized recipes designed specifically for school nutrition programs. For smaller districts like Rio Vista ISD that don't have a dedicated culinary or menu planning team, resources like this are incredibly valuable. They allow us to offer innovative, student-friendly meals while ensuring every recipe meets USDA nutrition standards.

I'm excited to incorporate some of these new recipes into our 2026–2027 menus, along with our new salad bars featuring weekly themes and featured salad recipes! Stay tuned for what's cooking this school year, and come join us for breakfast or lunch—we can't wait to serve you! 🍎🥗🍽️

🍎 School Lunch Applications Open Monday, July 13th!

Families can complete their meal application online through SchoolCafe at www.schoolcafe.com/riovistaisd. A link to the SchoolCafe portal is also available on the Rio Vista ISD website. Paper applications may be picked up at the Administration Building or the Child Nutrition Services Office.

Families receiving SNAP or TANF benefits may automatically qualify for free meals through Direct Certification and will be notified by the district. If you receive a Direct Certification letter, you do not need to complete a meal application.

We encourage all families to apply and create a SchoolCafe account! Meal applications help determine eligibility for meal benefits and provide valuable funding that supports our schools. Even if you are unsure if you qualify, we encourage you to apply.

Nutrition Services will be available during New and Returning Student Registration dates to assist families and answer questions. A SchoolCafe account makes it easy to stay updated on menus and monitor student meal balances throughout the year.

📢 Back-to-School Reminder!

If your child has a food allergy or requires a special dietary accommodation, please remember to submit a completed Food & Allergen Form signed by a physician or Registered Dietitian at the time of registration. A new form is required each school year so we can provide the safest and most appropriate meal accommodations for your child.

The form is available on the Rio Vista ISD website under Child Nutrition → Allergies.

If your child follows a Gluten-Free diet, we encourage you to review our monthly menus, as gluten-free options may be limited. Need help navigating the menu? We’re happy to assist! Contact the Child Nutrition Department to schedule a time to review meal options together.

The Child Nutrition Department will also be available during the in-person enrollment session on Thursday, July 6th to answer questions and assist with school meal applications. Students who qualify through Direct Certification do not need to complete an application. If you have questions about eligibility or the application process, we’re happy to help!
