🌩️ Safety First, Bobcats!

Last week, we conducted our Severe Weather Drill, and our students and staff did a fantastic job! Everyone responded quickly and demonstrated what it looks like to stay calm, follow directions, and stay safe during severe weather.

Thank you to our Bobcats for taking our safety procedures seriously!

📚 Assessment Season Continues

This week, our PreK students and students in Grades 1 and 2 will continue taking their state assessments.

Families, please help your child be ready to do their best by making sure they:

* Get a good night’s sleep
* Eat a healthy breakfast
* Arrive at school on time

A great night’s sleep and a good breakfast can help our Bobcats feel ready to learn and show what they know!

👵🏽📚 Goodies with Grandparents

We are excited to welcome our grandparents to campus for Goodies with Grandparents on Friday, September 11th!

Grandparents, please bring your ID so you can check in through the front office.

Spend some special time with your Bobcat! You can:

📖 Read a book
🎨 Make a craft
🍪 Share a treat with your grandkid

We can’t wait to see our grandparents and celebrate the special role they play in the lives of our students!

🚗 Thank You for Helping Us With Dismissal!

Thank you to all of our families for remaining in your vehicles during dismissal in the car circle. Our dismissal time is improving every week, and your cooperation makes a big difference!

Please remember:

* 🚫 There is no parking on Lancaster Drive.
* 🚗 You must use the car circle to pick up your child.
* 🚶 The walkers gate is only for students who are walking home.

Following these procedures helps us keep dismissal safe and allows everyone to get home as quickly and efficiently as possible.

☀️ Stay Cool, Bobcats!

The Florida heat is definitely here! Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the weather. Be mindful when sending your child to school in hoodies or sweatshirts, as temperatures can become very warm throughout the school day.

We also encourage every student to bring a refillable water bottle to school each day so they can stay hydrated.

Please take a moment to log in to your Parent FOCUS account and make sure we have your current phone numbers and email addresses. Having accurate contact information is important so we can reach you when needed.

This week, our students and staff practiced an Active Threat Drill. We are proud of the way our entire Belcher community followed our safety protocols and took the drill seriously.

🚗 Dismissal & Car Circle Reminders

We need everyone’s help to keep dismissal safe and efficient.

Please remember:

* The walkers gate is for walkers only.
* Please do not park alongside Lancaster to avoid the car line.
* Please do not park in our parking lot to avoid the car line.

When cars park in these areas, it creates significant safety concerns. It can block our buses from leaving and make it difficult for other vehicles to safely enter and exit the parking lot.

Thank you for following our dismissal procedures and helping us keep all of our Bobcats safe!

📚 First State Assessments of the Year

This week, students in Grades 1 and 2 will begin their first round of state assessments.

Assessment data helps our teachers identify areas of strength and areas where students may need additional support. This information is an important tool that helps us plan instruction and make sure we are meeting the needs of every student.

Families can help by making sure their children:

* Get plenty of rest each night.
* Eat a healthy breakfast.
* Arrive at school on time and ready to learn.

Bobcats, ever thought about joining Scouts? Check out this opportunity! Pack 404 has an Open House on August 25th, featuring the birds and critters from McGough Nature Park. Pack 404 is a family pack with boys and girls. Meetings are Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm at St. Catherine's.
