The Easter Vigil reminds us that no darkness can overcome the light of Christ. It leads us from the Easter fire which lights the Pascal Candle, through salvation history, to the joyful announcement of the Resurrection. In this sacred liturgy, we rejoice in Christ's victory over sin and death, and celebrate the new life we share through Baptism. 🕯️

GACS received news of the passing of Sister Mary Deborah Carlin, SND, on February 6, 2026. Sister Carlin served in the St. Petersburg Diocese for 28 years, including teaching Religion at Clearwater Central Catholic HS from 1984-1991. She went on to Our Lady of Lourdes School as Director of Catechetical Ministry from 1991-2000, and then as Director of Religious Education at Guardian Angels Catholic School from 2000-2012.

Sister Carlin had a natural burial yesterday (Feb. 9) and her Memorial Mass is Saturday, February 14 at 10:30 AM at the Chardon SND Center chapel. This Mass will be live-streamed ( https://boxcast.tv/channel/oy4qb7ildieu6vtwyicy ).
Please keep Sister Carlin and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Over the past year, our school has been documenting Corporal and Spiritual acts of mercy in accordance with Bishop Parkes' Jubilee Challenge. Today, our school was honored with a certificate and grant from the Bishop, stating that our school achieved the Top Youth Participation in an elementary school with 14,687 acts of mercy. What an honor it was! Go GACS!!! We have the best school teachers and students! Congrats Angels!
