Reading aloud...
I wish I could go back and savor those moments I many times felt stressed to get completed. I just packed up twenty boxes of books. So many memories of reading these books-- their eyes filled with excitement as we read.
Evening read-aloud time is such a beautiful opportunity.
Once Upon a Time at Home - Memoria Press The first benefit of reading children's stories—and reading them aloud is this: It makes a community out of those who had been mere individuals.

Four years ago, Mike and I set forth on a mission to provide a truly Classical education for our twin boys, Evan and Ethan. Gulf Coast Classical (GCC) was established to emulate one of the most respected and successful Classical schools in America, Highlands Latin School (HLS) in Louisville, KY. We adopted the HLS curriculum (published by Memoria Press) and were blessed with teachers that exemplified this classical method and model as well as the Gulf Coast Classical vision. Over the years we have formed strong relationships with the HLS faculty and leadership through annual teacher training and on-going mentorship. Today we are pleased to announce MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
In the Fall of 2022, our family will relocate to Louisville, KY as Evan and Ethan continue their Classical journey as full-time 8th grade students at HLS.
We are grateful for all the relationships developed and support received over the years from families, friends, and Bethel Lutheran Church. Although GCC is closing its doors, Gulf Coast Classical Academy (GCCA) has been formed to realize their Classical vision. They are launching with a strong foundation, and we pray for success in their inaugural year of developing a community school that suits their needs in the Fall of 2022.

Today, our 4th-8th grade drama students did a fantastic job presenting several scenes from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. Our 4th-5th grade students also presented their encomiums on Famous Romans as a culmination of their study of Roman History this year. Great job, students!
Update to end of the school year events scheduled for Friday 5/20:
K-2 Breakfast Recitation Assembly will continue as scheduled at 8:30.
Grammar & Upper Grade presentation of Julius Caesar is postponed to next week so that all drama students will be able to attend.
End of year assembly and graduation will begin at 2pm on Friday, May 20.
