What is 4,000 hours?

166 24-hour days or about 5.5 months
500 8-hour workdays - over one year of full-time employment

It's how many hours our 2 volunteers — Jennifer Burke & Gene Sanita — have each donated of their free time to Animal Services.

Another highlight: Leslie Uzzo has been a volunteer groomer at Pinellas County Animal Services for over 28 years. She also achieved the Presidential Award this year, logging over 4,000 hours of service. She is currently working full-time in a healthcare position, but still manages to come into the shelter twice a week to bathe and groom our shelter pups. She is truly one of our every day heroes.

We wanted to highlight some of our volunteers at Emergency Management. Harry volunteered 111 hours in March in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). He is here every weekday and takes care of all of the feeding for the EOC and arranged for feeding when donation sites were open in Tarpon Springs and Walsingham Park. He even brings the coffee around for the evening shift. Harry is the best!

Cole has been a great help answering phones and
running down answers. We really appreciate him.

Sandra Pittman is working remotely to call faithbased communities to help them take a survey as part of an initiative under the Community Well Being Working Group. As always, she is dedicated to the good of the County.

it's Volunteer Appreciation Week! We'd like to highlight our Pinellas County Animal Services volunteers. In 2019, 404 volunteers contributed over 49,000 hours. This week serves as an important reminder that we could not save as many lives, find as many homes, or reach as many people as we do without the help of these important and selfless individuals.
