We also want to recognise Liam Pretorius. Although he has not officially been capped by Shockwave Rugby Academy just yet, Liam has trained with the academy since our very first day.

Liam was selected in the Queensland Country U13 Junior Heelers and made a significant contribution to their impressive 2–0 series victory over Brisbane Junior Rugby Union City.

These selections reflect the commitment, courage and hard work of each player. They also demonstrate the strength of the pathways available to young regional rugby players who are prepared to work consistently and take every opportunity presented to them.

No matter the jersey, region or team, it is always a proud moment to see Shockwave players competing, supporting one another and living the academy’s values on the representative stage.

🏉 SHOCKWAVE PLAYERS SHINE ON THE REPRESENTATIVE STAGE - Pt 1 🏉

After a massive representative rugby campaign at the Queensland Country Rugby Union Championships in Townsville, followed by the Australian Schools Rugby and Junior National Championships on the Sunshine Coast, we can finally pause and recognise the outstanding achievements of several current and former Shockwave Rugby Academy players.

Congratulations to:

🌊 Layne Prince — SRA #26
Represented the Queensland Maroon U18 Girls and was awarded the Brian Peace Award as Players’ Player. Layne was also selected in the Australian U18 Sevens Merit Team.

🌊 Evan Sullivan — SRA #43
Represented the Queensland White U18 Girls and received the Sugerman-McLean Award for Best Team Person.

🌊 Madison Schell — SRA #6
Represented the Queensland White U16 Girls and was awarded the Brian Peace Award as Players’ Player.

🌊 Fallon Harris — SRA #9
Represented the Queensland White U16 Girls and played an important role in the team’s success throughout the championships.

Although huge distances separate these young women in their everyday lives, it is always special to see them come together at the representative level, support one another and demonstrate the values of Shockwave Rugby Academy.

We are incredibly proud of their achievements, but even prouder of the character, teamwork and commitment they continue to display both on and off the field.

A huge congratulations to Shockwave Rugby Academy players Layne Prince #26 and Madison Schell #6 on their selection into the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team 7's Squad to compete the Australian Schools Rugby National Championships in July.

We love seeing young athletes have their hard work, commitment and effort rewarded with selection into higher-level representative teams.

Talent may open the door, but it is the unseen work that makes the difference — the extra reps after training, the long hours when no one is watching, and the determination to keep improving when the lights have gone out on the field.

Plenty of players have ability. The ones who rise are those willing to do the work their opposition will not.

Keep working. Keep believing. Keep earning it.
