Hillcrest Studio

Hillcrest Studio Hillcrest Studio opened on January 1, 2013. Hillcrest Studio is a good starting point for people new to the arts. The final two classes will vary.

As a Community Art Studio we aim to enrich the lives of those around us through stimulating their creativity while looking at alternate ways of seeing the world around us. We regularly offer a six-week series of classes called "Art in the Afternoon" which serve as a brief 3-hour introduction to various art mediums. Core classes of the six week series are Drawing, Painting, Printmaking and Collage.

In the past they have included: Mosaics, Paper Mache, Assemblage and Wood Sculpture. Additional classes and workshops are offered. Plans are being made for a watercolor workshop and another on matting fine artwork. Open studio hours can be arraigned for those who desire private time to work or would like additional support. The monthly "SECOND SUNDAY SALON" is growing in popularity. It is a time to come together with other artists of all levels and hangout, make art and just relax. "Film @ Four" is a regular feature of he Salon... a film focused on some aspect of the arts can be pretty interesting and educational.

It's Karen Magnuson's time to shine...her show at the Upper Lake Wine Studio opens on March 1st and 2nd. Should be a wonderful collection of her work including Printmaking.

The concept has taken hold in our new location on the shores of Lake Chapala, Mexico. Today we attended our second Salon..."The Second Tuesday Salon" to be exact. It is just getting started and even though Vicki and I are not hosting...we are taking an active part in shaping the event. (Photos will follow)

You must remember Catherine Griffith, our piano player at a number of the Salons at the Hillcrest Studio. We she has started to play at the Brookdale Assisted Living Center on Burns Valley Road here in Clearlake. She is calling her event "The Second Sunday Piano Salon." Her next performance is this Sunday, March 11th from 4 to 5pm.
