A little Care Closet transparency 💙

Since opening the Care Closet last school year, we’ve received $1,950.18 in monetary donations from our community.

Of that, $1,731.91 has already been spent directly back on helping our students, families, and school community.

Those dollars have allowed us to build and stock our own shelves, purchase snacks and necessities, help families with specific needs, support needs throughout our community, and even step in when other school buildings have reached out needing help.

That means almost 89% of every dollar donated has already been put to work. 💙

I never want monetary donations to feel like they disappear into an account somewhere. When you give to the Care Closet, those dollars are being used wherever the need shows up, whether that’s inside our Closet or somewhere else in our school community.

And I think that’s pretty dang cool. 💙

One thing we always want people to know… the Care Closet is here when you need us. 💙

Our home is Cascade High School, and that’s where most of our day-to-day requests come from, but our reach doesn’t stop there.

We’ve helped students and families from our elementary schools and middle school, and when there’s a need in our community that we can help meet, we’ll always do our best.

You don’t have to prove that you need help. You don’t have to explain your situation. And you definitely don’t have to feel embarrassed about asking.

Need a snack? Hygiene products? Clothes? School supplies? A bag? Something we may not even keep on our shelves?

Ask.

Everything we provide is free, and requests are kept confidential.

The Care Closet started as a way to make sure our students have what they need, but at the end of the day, it’s about taking care of our Cadet community. 💙

A HUGE thank you to **Tri Kappa** for this amazing donation to the Cascade Care Closet! 💙

They brought us so many of the things we use every single day: snacks, hygiene products, deodorant, dental care items, socks, hair accessories, brown paper bags, and more!

These are the everyday items that may seem small, but having them available when a student needs them can make such a difference.

We are incredibly lucky to have a community that continues to show up for our students. Thank you, Tri Kappa, for helping us keep the Care Closet stocked and ready! 💙

So… what exactly IS in the Care Closet? 👀💙

A little bit of everything!

We keep the Care Closet stocked with things our students may need throughout the school day and at home — snacks, hygiene products, clothing, school supplies, bags, water, and other everyday essentials.

And sometimes the need is something we don’t have sitting on a shelf. If there’s something a student needs, we’ll always do our best to help find it.

Everything is free and confidential. No judgment. No explaining your situation. Just ask. 💙

Because sometimes you need a deodorant.
Sometimes you forgot lunch.
Sometimes life happens.
That’s what we’re here for.

School is back in full swing, so it feels like a good time to reintroduce ourselves! 👋💙

If you’re new here, welcome to the Cascade Care Closet!

The Care Closet is here to make sure Cascade High School students have access to the everyday things they need. Snacks, hygiene products, clothing, school supplies, bags and more are available to students completely free and confidentially.

Students can submit a request through our Care Closet form, and we get their items packed up and ready for pickup.

No big explanation needed. No judgment. Just students getting what they need, when they need it. 💙

Over the next week or so, I’ll be sharing a little more about how the Care Closet works, where donations can be dropped off, our Amazon Wishlist, and other ways you can help keep it stocked!

What started as an idea has grown into an incredible community of people who simply want to help students.

People sometimes ask why the Care Closet means so much to me.

The truth is, it started long before there was ever a Care Closet.

When I was in middle school, I broke my glasses. We didn’t have the money to replace them, and I was terrified to tell my mom because I knew money was tight.

I tried superglue. I tried tape. Nothing lasted.

Then one day, my shop teacher helped me weld my metal frames back together.

I don’t even remember his name anymore, but I’ll never forget that act of kindness. He fixed more than a pair of glasses. He gave me one less thing to worry about.

Looking back, I know there were probably resources that could have helped my family. We just didn’t know they existed.

That’s one of the reasons this mission means so much to me today.

The Care Closet isn’t just about clothes or school supplies. It’s about making sure a student doesn’t have to carry one more unnecessary burden. Sometimes all it takes is one person, one resource, or one small act of kindness to change someone’s day.

Because sometimes they’ll remember it for the rest of their life.

I hope that’s what we’re building together.
