A BIG thank you to First Baptist Church of Clayton for their continued support of the Cascade Care Closet! ❤️

Each quarter, the church dedicates one month's mission collection to supporting the Care Closet. Their September mission collection brought in $100 to help us continue providing for our students and families!

And if that wasn't enough, the church also generously donated an additional $1,000 to the Care Closet!

That's $1,100 going right back into supporting students and families in our community!

We are so thankful for the congregation at Clayton First Baptist Church and their continued generosity. Having a community that shows up for our students the way ours does is something I'll never take for granted! ❤️

Families can stop by for the coat giveaway, plus there will be indoor trick-or-treating, refreshments and other community resources available.

And to think… this was BEFORE the big wave of donations started coming in. 🥹💙

I took this video just wanting to show how much our community had already been showing up for the Care Closet.

Little did I know what was about to come through our doors. 😂

Every single donation matters, whether it’s one item, one bag, or an entire Amazon order. It all goes toward keeping our shelves stocked and making sure we have what our students need when they need it.

I seriously cannot wait to show you guys what the Care Closet looks like now. 💙

THIS is what your donations do. 💙

Because our community continues to show up for the Care Closet, we’re able to do more than just stock our shelves at the high school.

We were able to help one of our elementary teachers get a small “closet” started right inside her classroom, giving her items she can have on hand when one of her kiddos needs something.

This is exactly why I say the Care Closet is so much bigger than what you see happening at CHS. When we have enough, we share. We help. We make sure these donations are reaching kids throughout Mill Creek who need them.

And none of that happens without YOU.

Keep showing up for our kids, and we’ll keep finding ways to get these items where they’re needed. 💙

Sort snacks. Combine totes. Make room. Repeat. 😂

Our snacks FLY off the shelves around here, and I know sometimes there’s a question of how we determine which students truly “need” something and which ones might just want a free snack.

The truth is, I’m probably never going to have a perfect way to separate the two. And as long as donations continue coming in and we’re able to provide it, I’m okay with that. ❤️

Because what you see is a kid grabbing a bag of snacks.

What you don’t always see is the list of students I need to pull for clothing. The school supplies we go through constantly. The hygiene products quietly packed into orders. Or the supplies we’re able to share with our elementary and middle schools to help stock their own closets for their students.

The Care Closet has become SO much bigger than a free bag of snacks.

And if a few kids grab a snack simply because they can while it allows us to keep the door open for the kid who really needs one, I can live with that. 🥹

One of my favorite things about the Care Closet is getting to say "yes" when someone reaches out with a need. 🥹

Sometimes that looks like putting together hygiene items for a local elementary teacher to have on hand for students who may need them.

Different school, different ages, same goal: making sure our kids have what they need. ❤️

And we’re only able to keep saying yes because of the people who continue to donate and support this little closet of ours.

I don’t even have the words. 🥹

Opened this card today to find the sweetest little note and a $100 donation to the Care Closet.

To the incredibly kind person who sent this, thank you, thank you, thank you. Not just for the donation, but for believing in what we’re doing and taking the time to remind me that it matters.

The support this community continues to show our students absolutely blows me away. I will never stop being grateful for every single person who helps make this little closet possible. ❤️

There is a sweet girl who puts in an order with us about once a week. A snack. A drink. Shampoo. Conditioner. Body wash. Deodorant. Face wash. Feminine hygiene products. Just normal, everyday things.

And every week, we get to pack her little brown bag and make sure she has them.

There’s nothing huge or flashy about this picture. But honestly, this is exactly why the Care Closet exists.

Sometimes helping a student looks like a new outfit or a pair of shoes. And sometimes it’s simply making sure she knows that when her shampoo runs out, she can ask for another one.

She doesn’t have to explain. She doesn’t have to be embarrassed. She just asks, and if we have it, it’s hers.

And because this community continues to show up for us, we get to keep saying yes. 🤍

This one makes my heart happy. 🥹

Because of donations from our community, we were able to set aside some supplies specifically for our high school teachers today!

Expo markers, Sharpies, pens, notebooks, Clorox wipes… all those little things teachers go through ALL. YEAR. LONG. And so many times, those things are coming straight out of their own pockets.

The Care Closet will always be about taking care of our students, but being able to turn around and take care of some of the people who take care of them every single day feels pretty dang special too. 🤍

Once again, this is only possible because people continue to donate and support what we’re doing. You guys help us take care of our school in more ways than you probably even realize.

A HUGE thank you to Tri Kappa for their donation to the Care Closet! We are so incredibly lucky to have people and
organizations in our community who continue to show up for our students.

Every notebook, folder, hygiene item, snack, and school supply that comes through our doors ends up exactly where it needs to be. We seriously couldn’t do this without the people who continue to support us. 🤍
