Good Afternoon. I am not sure if you know, but I'm the new Director at the Senior Center in Clayton. I have been in this position since the 1st of February. I am very excited to be able to give back where I grew up. I have currently 22 seniors that are enrolled to come to the center daily with meals being delivered to 7 homebound seniors. With us being shut down due to this coronavirus outbreak, I am taking this time to really clean out this building, and really do some major disinfecting of all the areas.
I am reaching out to some on my list especially the ones from Clayton to ask and give the opportunity for each of you that may wish to help me being life back into this Center. I have had to trash most everything due to the fact it was just old and nasty. I have thrown out furniture, old curtains, tables and chairs, broken lamps and much more.
I have 6 rooms I'm working on to have ready when the seniors return when all this is over.
We could use end tables, curtains, coffee tables, area rugs, lamps, wall photos, flowers, pots and potting soil ( I had someone drop off some green flowers that need to be repotted), bathroom tank covers and rugs, furniture and any items you would like to contribute. I want to be able to tell them their community has not forgotten about them and show them we want them to have a place to come and enjoy each other in comfort and style. They have earned it. They have so much life left in them and I miss them so much already.
You may ask what is the Country Commission or Mayor during to assist at the Center? They are working together to get some much-needed work done on the structure of the building both inside and out on things that will continue the safety and upkeep of the building for our seniors and staff. I know the heart and soul of this town and it came from some of the very seniors that attended the center daily.
If you have any questions or would like to be a blessing to the center, please let me know. I'm at the center from 8 to 4 daily. You are welcome to call 334 775 3494 to arrange pick up of any items or to drop off at the center. Currently, it is just me and one other staff member there daily.
