This weekend our Marching Comets went to West Johnston for their second Marching Band Competition of the season. We came home with the following awards:

2nd Place Music
1st Place Color Guard
1st Place Percussion
1st Place Visual
1st Place General Effect
Best Drum Majors in Class 2A
1st Place Overall in Class 2A
4th Place Overall for the entire day

AND

The New Direction Award! The New Direction Award is given to the band which the judges feel is performing and taking the Marching Arts in a New Direction!

As we take this week off from Marching Band, our Concert Band Classes will be putting on their first performance of the year on Thursday 10/15 at 7pm in the Clayton Center Auditorium!

Mrs. Daily's AP Psychology class applied their knowledge of the neuron into their Candy Neuron Projects! After constructing and presenting, students enjoyed eating their projects!

Clayton National Technical Honor Society received another large donation from Grace Episcopal Church to be shared and distributed to the CHS student body! More sweet acts of service!

In Animal Science 2, we talked about muscles, tendons and ligaments. They dissected chicken wings so they could see how everything functioned as a whole.

In Horticulture 1, students worked outside in the plant boxes, learned how yard equipment (mower & weedeater) works, pulled weeds, and got to plant flowers.

JOCO WORKS is designed to introduce students to a growing array of high-wage jobs in the Johnston County region. Students will explore exciting career paths at the JOCO WORKS event through real-world simulations of career options, hands-on exhibits presented by top employers, and networking opportunities with industry leaders. Students will learn how to begin building a meaningful career as they are transitioning to/from high school. This opportunity is availabe for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.

There are only 20 spots available. Permission forms can by found in Room 103 and are due by October 23rd.
