Ferst Readers of Rabun County is striving to reach all Rabun County children under age five and increase childhood literacy by providing them with one free book a month until their 5th birthday. The Foundation strives to improve early childhood learning for every child regardless of income, race, religion, or gender as any child who cannot read is at-risk. If they are registered as soon as they ar
e born, each child will
receive up to 60 free books for his/her own personal library! An expert committee composed of individuals from education, child development, academia and early childhood literacy has carefully selected the books chosen for this home library. The children’s classic, The Little Engine That Could, is the first book each child receives and Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come! is the final “graduation” book that is received when the child turns 5. Description
The Ferst Foundation For Childhood Literacy of Rabun County is striving to reach all children between ages 0-5 and increase childhood literacy by providing them with one free book a month until their 5th birthday. The cost for the family is $0. That's right - there is no cost for the families and there are no criteria to meet to be eligible. We want ALL children to be able to participate in this program. But we need your help. The Rabun County Community Action Team raises the funds necessary to support registered children at a cost of $28 per year/child. We encourage you to make a donation or gift to help increase childhood literacy in our community. Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy - Rabun County Community Action Team
