Introducing Lucy’s Buddy Bench 💚
Lucy Hutchins was a second grader at River Dell Elementary who sadly passed away in 2018. In her memory, a bench was placed on our 2–5 playground as a tribute to her.
We wanted to create another special place for Lucy, and today we are so honored to share Lucy’s Buddy Bench, located out front of our school beneath a beautiful, welcoming tree. 🌳
We hope this space becomes a little place of peace, comfort, and joy for our Racer families. Whether you’re waiting for your students at dismissal, taking a few quiet moments to reflect, or simply enjoying the beauty of the tree, we hope Lucy’s bench brings a little warmth to your day.
Although we never had the privilege of knowing Lucy personally, we are incredibly honored to help keep her memory alive and ensure that she will always hold a special place in our Racer family.
