Grasshopper Learning Center

Grasshopper Learning Center Tutoring. Homeschool support. ACT (and other tests) preparation. C.H.E.E.S.E. hub. Hosting classes, workshops and seminars. Tutoring is done one on one. Learn.

Grasshopper Learning Center is proudly broadening its reach. While providing one on one tutoring to students of any age, on any level and in any subject, has always been the main goal, we are excited to extend our focus to ACT (and any other tests) preparation, as well as homeschool support. We use an assortment of tools and techniques to help students grasp concepts, understand material, and reta

in information. Our motto is: Believe. Succeed. We help students begin to believe in their ability to learn new things. Then, with light bulbs flashing, they learn something new. With their new belief and knowledge, they will find success. The goal is academic success, but often success oozes into other aspect of life. In a nutshell, we teach kids how to learn, promoting their own innate abilities and developing necessary and marketable skills. ACT prep is a must for any junior or senior considering college. We use up to date practice books and online resources. We cover what to expect on the test, how to prepare, and of course the content. We can schedule a single student at a time. Or we can do small group sessions. Misery loves company, after all. The time it takes to cover the whole test varies greatly, mostly depending on the student and his needs. Homeschool support covers an enormous spectrum of services. If you are new to homeschool, we can help you navigate the seas of curriculum (we have many popular sets you can investigate and flip through), troubleshoot problems you might run into, develop a schedule or just be moral support. (Trust me, you’ll need it!) On the other end of the spectrum, we can teach your kids a full day of school, 1-4 days a week using your curriculum or ours. Somewhere in the middle, we can support you by teaching a challenging topic, unit or subject to your student. (Math, anyone?) We can provide homeschool help and support in nearly any capacity. We’re flexible and open to your needs. Just give us a call. Please connect with Grasshopper Learning Center if you have a need for any of our services. We would love to help!

Can you define education?

I have had some lively discussions derived from this question.

We talk so much about education in politics, in our communities, in our families. What is education? What does it mean to be educated? Are you educated because you went to school or to college? Are you educated if you chose to go to work as an apprentice? Can a high school drop out be better educated that a guy with a masters degree?

What do we expect our schools to do? Educate them, of course. But what does that mean? What role does family play in education? Are our recent high school graduates prepared for college or the work force? Are they prepared for adulthood? If the answer is no, do they have the skills to figure it out? If the answer is again no, who takes care of them? Who failed?

So I ask again. Can you define education?

I spent many sheets of paper trying to write one that encompasses all that I think education is. But I found one, already written, that does a better job. I’ll share it in the comments. But I would love to hear your thoughts and your definitions!

Because of a very generous community and numerous donations of books, games, toys and learning tools over the past couple of years, we have been able to pay it forward. We so gladly got to add to the classroom library and “educational play things” pile of the Tuskahoma Savage Daycare!
We hope those tiny Savages enjoy everything!!
