Let's welcome Ms. Thomas!

Hello! My name is Sonja Thomas, and I am a dedicated educator with more than 25 years of experience in education. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to serve students, families, and school communities in a variety of roles, including Teacher Assistant, Classroom Teacher, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, Principal, Title I Tutor, and Long-Term Substitute Teacher. Each of these experiences has strengthened my commitment to helping students grow academically, socially, and personally. I hold a Master’s Degree in Education Administration and Supervision and a Post-Master’s credential in Educational Leadership. I am also a Doctoral Candidate in Educational Leadership, continuing to expand my knowledge and skills as both an educator and educational leader. I am currently participating in the North Carolina Teachers of Tomorrow Program, where I am pursuing K–6 Elementary Education certification. I am excited about continuing to grow.

It's time to welcome more Bulldogs to our family! Next up, Mrs. Huffman!

Hello! My name is Jessica Huffman, and I’m thrilled to join the Bulldog Family at West Clayton Elementary as an EC Teacher! This is my second year teaching, and I have a master’s degree in Education from Strayer University. I love engaging with students and helping them learn and grow! My goal is to create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for young minds to flourish.

I have an amazing husband and son and two crazy cats that I adore! I love to read, write, and draw. I can’t wait to start the new school year and learn and grow alongside my new family!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Meet the Teacher meetings this week. It was wonderful seeing our Bulldogs and their families. We also enjoyed meeting the newest Bulldogs during kindergarten assessments. We are ready for an amazing school year!

For our new families, each Sunday at 5:30 p.m., you can expect a weekly phone call and email with important information for the week ahead. We just couldn't wait until Sunday for our first call because we have a little weekend homework for everyone!

🐾 Car Riders: Please help your child memorize their car rider number. Knowing their number will help our afternoon carpool run smoothly and efficiently.

🍎 Lunch Numbers: If your child received their lunch number, please have them practice it over the weekend so they are ready for Monday.

🚗 Carpool Families: There are no changes to our carpool procedures this year, but we want to make sure our new Bulldog families know exactly where to go.

We hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing weekend. Get ready, Bulldogs; Monday is almost here, and we can't wait to make some waves together!

Another successful day of Kindergarten Assessments and Meet the Teacher meetings! 💙🌊

This year, we had the opportunity to meet with families one-on-one or in small groups, and we absolutely loved spending time getting to know each of our families!

We are so excited for the year ahead and are ready to Ride the Wave of Excellence! 🌊✨
