Thanks to UNC Health Johnston and Johnston Medical Mall for hosting a Career Fair for our Academy students! Students rotated through the mall to learn from many healthcare careers and departments - to see demonstrations and learn about a day in the life of each area.

14 Academy members had the opportunity to travel to East Carolina University's Brody School of Medicine this week. While there, we toured the PA, OT, and PT facilities and took part in fun and engaging activities in each school. Thank you to Audrey Evans and her team at ECU for providing a wonderful learning experience and lunch for our students.

Thank you Dr. Chuck Williams for speaking with us in early April. We learned about family medicine and practiced taking vital signs. We appreciate the partnership and support from Horizon Family Medicine.

Academy Juniors at UNC Health Johnston for Rotary Shadow Day 2025. Students were able to shadow in different departments within the hospital and Medical Mall. We appreciate the partnership with the Johnston County Rotary as well as with UNC Health Johnston.

Academy of Health Science table at 8th Grade Night

In March, Academy students visited the Workforce Development Center in Clayton to learn about biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry. Students participated in activities such as micro pipetting, medical ethics, DNA sequencing, and proper PPE protocol demonstration. Thank you to Melissa Robbins and your team at JCC Workforce Development for a great day! Thank you also to Grifols for providing lunch for our students.

In February, Academy students met Ms. Amber Powers from JCC Medical Assisting in February. Students learned about the medical assisting career, participated in a hand washing experiment, and practiced putting on PPE. We are grateful for our partnership with Johnston Community College.
