On Monday, July 27, at 9 a.m., KFUO’s “Coffee Hour” will devote an episode to the Calov Bible of Johann Sebastian Bach. The Bible, which includes handwritten annotations by Bach himself, is one of the treasures housed here at our library, on the campus of Concordia Seminary. To kick off KFUO’s annual Bach Week (marking the anniversary of the composer’s death), hosts Andy Bates and Sara Gulseth will speak with our own Special Collections Librarian Bruce Durazzi about the book, its history and what it teaches us about J.S. Bach.

Listen live on KFUO AM 850, 92.7 FM (St. Charles), 104.5 FM (St. Louis), 105.3 FM (St. Louis) or livestream at kfuo.org. The program will be available later as a podcast.

This week, the LCMS Office of National Mission (ONM) honored one of our own, Rev. Dr. Jeffery Nehrt, second from the left. He received the Christus in Mundo award for bringing "...comfort, hope and the mercy of Christ to those who have been incarcerated, their families, to prison staff and to the church at large." Today, July 16, we commemorate Ruth in the church calendar. To mark the day, we've gathered a selection of resources on Ruth from the library's collection in a variety of languages, including Coptic, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, and Spanish. Stop by the information desk today or tomorrow to explore how the Book of Ruth has been studied, translated, and read across languages, cultures, and the centuries.
