Happy ! Today, we’re excited to spotlight Anissa Justice, Blind/Low Vision Liaison, for and making a difference here at WCS!

Anissa was nominated by Emily Gough, who shared how hard Anissa works behind the scenes to prepare materials for students who are blind or have visual impairments, including finding creative ways to make math and science graphs accessible. She’s also always willing to step in and support the front office staff wherever she’s needed.

Thank you, Anissa! We're so grateful for all that you do at WCS!

Claypool 5th graders began their composting project today. Students learned about what to add to their compost and then went outside to prep the bin for the year. They added organic materials from around the playground. This project began last year and was made possible by KREMC's EnviroWatts Project Grant. Each year Claypool's 5th graders will run the school's composting.

Claypool 4th, 5th, and 6th graders had a STEM Competition to see which groups could construct the tallest tower in 7 minutes using only index cards and tape. They worked through the STEM Integration standards to complete the project. (Constructing a Model, Digital Literacy, Collaboration, Data Analysis, and Solving a Problem) Pictured are the tallest towers from each class. The winning tower was 62 cm!

Claypool 5th graders became water quality testers. They learned about macroinvertebrates and how they teach us about the water health of the creek behind the school. Students found crayfish, mussels, and a leech! They concluded that the water is very healthy!
