DANCE4LIFE loves to see our alumni come through the doors. They know they are home, can share laughter, hugs, tears and reminisce. Most importantly, they take the time to pour into the next generation of students. The alumni are the strength of our legacy.
Let’s hear from Dominque Jones
“ It’s been a mighty long time and I’ve been awaiting a time to give you your flowers. I just wanted to say thank you for the many lessons, artistry, visions, tears, laughs, and reflections at the end of every class. I have never had an instructor take time to ask what I learned at the end of class, but that was a wondrous way to keep me engaged and knowledgeable, and it stuck!
I often sit and laugh about the many dances I was in or watched from the wings. You have so much power and integrity and I applaud you for everything you have instilled in me. I realize just how lucky I am, to have had access to you.
I often also think about the story of the 98% of your students that will not go on to concert dance, but will live with intention on their journey. I always come back to it, because for you it wasn’t just about dance, it was about creating humans with critical thinking, and reflecting skills that can also bust out an 8 count at any time. In your words- You don’t have to be the best, but you have to be smart!
Receive every flower, hug, thank you, accolade, because you deserve it! You are truly one of a kind! You are so gifted, that not everyone is ready to receive when you were ready to teach, but it will hit them when they are ready. God makes no mistakes at all! I appreciate and love you! “
