The Clay County High School Band received the honor of playing with West Virginia State University. Our Band was awarded this opportunity for winning the competition of having the most band members present during the Annual West Virginia State University Band Day. We are extremely thankful for the opportunity this presented for our students and school.

On May 1st, four of our talented musicians from the Clay County High's music department attended the Glenville State University's 17th Annual Honor Band. These students auditioned for chair placements that showcased their skills, abilities, and musicianship. These students were granted the honor of performing with students from various schools from around the state. They were Caleb L. , a senior playing baritone. Lilliann S. , a senior playing clarinet. Rebekah C. , a senior playing clarinet. Abigail G. , a sophomore playing the flute. The music selection gave the students ample opportunity to showcase their skills under the direction of Debra Price, a former West Virginia Teacher of the Year. The performance was the following day on May 2nd with the Clay County High School Steel Band being the opening act with a set being playing outside on the courtyard of Glenville State University Fine Arts Center.

We would like to congratulate the following students as part of the Marching Panthers Auxiliary for the 2026-27 season! Thank you to all those that came out this week and put in the work!

On May 18th, these students will need to stay after school for a uniform fitting. There will also be a mandatory parent meeting at 6pm after the fitting. There will not be any activity busses running that evening, so parents will need to be here to pick up students.

We are looking forward to a great season! 💙💛🎶

Come on out and support your favorite band kid at West Virginia State University this Thursday on May 7th!

This Thursday, May 7, we have some very special guests joining us from the Clay County High School Music Department, as the WVSU Wind Ensemble & Clay County High School Band will be in concert! The CCHS Band secured this exciting opportunity to perform on our campus by having the most students in attendance at the Marching Swarm's annual band day this past November! WVSU student Bryson Honaker will also be conducting a piece with the WVSU Wind Ensemble. Come out and support our students and give a warm welcome to the CCHS Band!

Saturday April 25, 2026, the CCHS Theater had their annual dinner theater, serving food to guests and performing Dorothy in Wonderland. These students worked so hard, putting in countless of hours, to put on an amazing show! Thank you to all that came out to show support to our theater program and amazing students!
