The Clay County High School student of the month for March is Jaeci Nottingham. Jaeci is the 17-year-old daughter of Kenneth Sanford and Lyndsey Nottingham, and she is currently a senior at CCHS. Jaeci’s favorite class in school is her clinical class through the Health Science CTE program. It is her favorite because it has helped her learn a lot and has pushed her to be a better version of herself. In her spare time, Jaeci likes to hang out with her friends and watch movies. After high school, Jaeci plans to attend Marshall University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

The Clay County High School English Department has selected Alex Holcomb as the Student of the Month for February. Alex is the 15-year-old son of David and Samantha Holcomb, and he is currently a freshman at CCHS. Alex’s favorite subjects in school are English and music. He likes English because he loves literature and reading. He likes music because he has been into music since he was very little. In his spare time, Alex enjoys art, playing music, fish keeping, and talking with his friends. After high school, Alex plans on becoming a marine preservationist.

The Clay County High School student of the month for January is Stephanie Rollyson. Stephanie is the 16-year-old daughter of Sherry Watkins, and she is currently a sophomore at CCHS. Stephanie’s favorite subject in school is agriculture because she gets to do a lot of hands-on activities and stuff outside and in the greenhouse. In her spare time, Stephanie likes to play the mandolin and guitar. After high school, Stephanie plans to pursue a career in welding.

Thanks, in large part, to L&S Toyota, 25 Clay County High School students were taken to Bass Pro Shop in South Charleston, where they picked out clothing and boots for winter! Thank you, Toyota, for supporting Clay County students!

The Clay County High School student of the month for November is Skylar Taylor. Skylar is the 15-year-old daughter of Amanda Taylor and Mark Taylor, and she is currently a sophomore at CCHS. Skylar’s favorite subjects in school are Algebra II, English, and Mrs. Price’s classes. She enjoys those classes because she thinks all the teachers are sweet and make the work enjoyable. In her spare time, Skylar likes to play with her cat, Zoey, go to Starbucks, get her nails done, and hang out with her friends and her mom. After high school, Skylar plans to attend WV Tech and get her nursing degree and become a geriatric nurse.

The Clay County High School student of the month for October is Alexus Diaz. Alexus is the 17-year-old daughter of Joselyn Kiser, Mike Kiser, and Monika Diaz, and she is currently a senior at CCHS. Alexus’ favorite subjects in school are theatre and English because she thinks they are fun and are her strong suits. In her spare time, Alexus likes to listen to music, sleep, shop, and travel. After high school, Alexus would like to go to Fairmont State for Criminal Justice and Law. She hopes to eventually make it to law school, make good money, and settle down and start a family.

The Clay County High School student of the month for September is Lillian Starcher. Lillian is the 16-year-old daughter of Natalie Starcher-Crum and Joshua Starcher, and she is currently a junior at CCHS. Lillian’s favorite subjects in school are science and English. She enjoys science because she finds it interesting to learn about living things and how they function, and she also loves doing labs. She enjoys English because of how much she loves reading and writing as well as having discussion groups about things. In her spare time, Lillian enjoys reading, as well as baking and cooking. She is a member of a cooking club! After high school, Lillian plans to attend a college or university to major in political science. She then wants to further her education and attend law school to fulfill her dream of becoming a lawyer!

The Clay County High School student of the month for May is Brooklyn Morton. Brooklyn is the 15-year-old daughter of Jeff and Kelly Morton, and she is currently a freshman at CCHS. Brooklyn’s favorite subject in school this year is math, because she enjoys solving math problems and learning something new every day. In her spare time, Brooklyn likes to play sports. She plays both softball and volleyball. She also enjoys playing with her dogs and spending time outside and with her family and friends. After high school, Brooklyn plans on going to college to study elementary education and obtaining her master’s degree. She wants to become an elementary school teacher!

The Clay County High School student of the month for April is Madilyn Cantrell. Madilyn is the 17-year-old daughter of Jeremy and Breanna Cantrell, and she is currently a senior at CCHS. Madilyn’s favorite subjects in school this year are science and art, because the subjects are interesting to her, and she loves the teachers! In her spare time, Madilyn likes to go running, cook, read, shop, and go camping. After high school, she plans to get a job and possibly pursue a career in real estate in the future.

The Clay County High School student of the month for March is Katie Price. Katie is the 17-year-old daughter of Harold and Amanda Price, and she is currently a junior at CCHS. Katie’s favorite subject in school this year is art, because she can relax in that class, and she thinks the teacher is amazing! In her spare time, Katie likes to draw and create art. After high school, she plans to attend Bridge Valley to obtain a nursing degree and then work in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in a hospital.

The Clay County High School student of the month for January is Kaylee Marshall. Kaylee is the 15-year-old daughter of Danielle Douglas. She also considers her uncle, Derek, as a father figure in her life. Kaylee is currently a sophomore at CCHS, and her favorite subject in school this year is theater because she loves to express herself and act, and she has made a bunch of friends in that class! In her spare time, Kaylee likes to draw, paint, play video games, listen to music, and skateboard. After high school, Kaylee plans to go to college and become a therapist.
