Evans County Schools Transportation Update

Evans County School System buses will return to regular bus routes tomorrow, Thursday, October 8, for both the morning and afternoon runs.

Students should report to their regular bus stops at their normally scheduled times.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we worked through the recent road conditions.

🎓✨ CHS FRESHMEN COMMIT TO GRADUATING! CLASS OF 2030 TAKES THE PLEDGE! 🖤💛🐅

On Friday, October 2, 2026, our Claxton High School 9th graders took a monumental step in their high school journey during the annual 9th Grade Commitment Ceremony! Surrounded by families, faculty, and supporters, the Class of 2030 officially pledged to put in the work required to cross the stage and graduate on time in May 2030! 📜🎓

The morning opened with a warm welcome from CHS Principal James Rowe, followed by CHS Counselor Pamela Calloway introducing guest speaker and CHS alumnus Robbie Lane (Class of 2022)! 🎙️🌟

Robbie delivered an inspiring message, sharing 5 key points for achieving success in school and in life:
1️⃣ Set goals and chase goals 🎯
2️⃣ Be a great friend and make great friends 🤝
3️⃣ Build a strong work ethic 💪
4️⃣ Never let anyone tell you that you can't 🚫🛑
5️⃣ Find your purpose ✨

To seal their commitment, students signed a graduation gown, enjoyed refreshments with their families, and took a full class photo to mark this special milestone! 📸🥳

We are so proud of our Class of 2030 and can’t wait to support them every step of the way as they strive with one shared purpose under One Roar! ⚡

Students in Mrs. Cason’s class got their hands dirty while investigating sand, clay, and loam! 🪴 Students made observations and drew conclusions about how each type of soil holds water and which would be the best choice for supporting healthy plant growth.

We love seeing our Tigers learning through hands-on exploration and scientific discovery! 🐯🌱

Evans County Schools Transportation Notice

Due to the amount of rainfall received this weekend and concerns regarding road conditions, Evans County School System buses will operate on alternate bus routes on Wednesday, October 6, for both the morning and afternoon runs.

Road conditions are improving, so our plan is to return to normal routes by Thursday. We will keep you posted.

To find your alternate bus route schedule, please click on the link Alternate stops (https://tinyurl.com/bdhcr2xh) or visit the ECSS webpage (https://www.evans.k12.ga.us/). Go to Departments, click on Transportation, then click on Alternate Bus Routes.

If your road is not listed, then your stop remains the same.

🤝💼 HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF EVANS COUNTY: BECOME A CAREER COACH! 🐅🖤💛

The Den @ CHS is excited to launch Year 2 of our Career Coaching Program to support our 9th graders as they begin their high school journey! We are looking for dedicated community volunteers to step up, mentor, and pour into the potential of our Class of 2030.

🌟 What does a Career Coach do?
👥 Meet with 1–3 students monthly (just 20 minutes per student).
📈 Help monitor academic and personal progress and growth.
🎯 Encourage college, career, and community goals.
💡 Be a trusted, reliable adult guiding them toward success.

Requirements:
All it takes is a willing adult with a heart for showing up and committing to our youth! 🤝❤️

The excitement is building, Tiger Nation! Join us under the Friday night lights as our Claxton Tigers take on the Portal Panthers! During halftime, we will hold our 2026 Homecoming Coronation to see who will be crowned this year's Homecoming Queen and Princess! 👸✨
