The most important person in a preschool classroom isn’t always the one doing the learning. Sometimes, it’s the one making the learning possible. 💚
It starts with the adult.
The energy they bring into the room. The way they respond when a child gets something wrong. The questions they ask. The patience they show. The relationships they build.
Because the adult sets the tone for everything that happens next.
Take a look at greeting time in one of our Clawson GSRP classrooms.
You see children engaged, participating, and sharing ideas. But look at their teacher.
She’s down at their level. She’s smiling. She’s inviting them into the learning rather than simply expecting them to comply.
And that matters.
At Green Garden, we believe children learn best when they feel safe, connected, respected, and capable.
Our HighScope approach puts children at the center of their learning, but that doesn’t mean the adults step back and hope learning happens.
It means our teachers have to be even more intentional.
They observe. They listen. They scaffold. They create environments where children feel confident enough to ask questions, make mistakes, solve problems, and use their voices.
Because before we can expect children to regulate their emotions, engage with others, or approach learning with confidence, we have to model those things ourselves.
The environment matters. The curriculum matters. But the adult brings it all to life. 🌱
