Update: I suppose I should appreciate that College Board has increased its security measures after their testing scandal, but I'm disappointed to report that my registration for the Digital SAT was refunded because I am ineligible to take the test. Kind of a bummer, since I care about experiencing what my students experience. (And since I've already taken the SAT as an adult multiple times...)

So, for now I'll just keep on practicing at home! This doesn't change my overall goal---to help students feel more confident when they sit down to take the Digital SAT. :)

I'm officially signed up to take the (new) Digital SAT in March. The last time I went to a high school to take a standardized test (in 2016), someone in the back of the room said, "Why is that mom taking the SAT??" 😆 We'll see what they have to say when seven-years-older me waltzes into this classroom.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to experiencing this new test format in person and under an official time crunch. (Someone has to look forward to it---might as well be me. 😀)

Looking forward to presenting about ACT/SAT at Lake Orion Public Library at the end of this month!

October 1 marks the start of TeenTober, a nationwide celebration hosted by libraries to promote teen services and literacies throughout the month.

Celebrate at OTPL with these exclusive events for patrons 12-18:

Teen Tuesday: A casual drop-in from 6:30-8:00 PM every Tuesday. Read, play video, board, or card games, craft, study, or just hang out with friends. Snacks are ALWAYS provided!

Looking for feedback, ideas, or another writer for a collaborative project? Meet up with other teen authors at 7 PM to discuss writing in all forms. All genres welcome!

After many cancelled tests and lots of frustrated students (and parents!), I can say with cautious optimism that it looks like spring ACTs and SATs will go forward as scheduled. Keep checking in with your test location to make sure your test hasn't been cancelled, but also keep up with your preparation!

Who wants some good news? 🙋🏻‍♀️ One student accepted to MSU and one student who increased her ACT score by 3 points. 🤩 What a happy way to end the week!

Just heard the amazing news that one of my students finally got the score he needed for a full ride scholarship to Oakland University! 🥳 Over the course of our tutoring time together, he raised his score 210 points! I love good news! 🙌🏻

Just finished up with a student today whom I've been working with since March--first ACT/SAT practice, then AP test review, and, finally, college essay brainstorming and edits. It's so fun to watch students check these big items off their lists. If you know anyone who needs help in these areas, please send them my way! 🎖

Tutoring has been picking up—a mix of ACT/SAT & college essay brainstorming and editing. I am so happy to still be available to my students via FaceTime, Zoom, etc.! I’ve got a few more available spots on my schedule if your high school student needs help with college test prep or college application support! 😁

Had great news from a student today--one AP test score that gave her 8 college credits and a second AP test score that would make it possible for her to skip a college class all together. I know 2021 AP tests are a long ways way, but keep me in mind when the time comes! :)
