I want to remind everyone about the Jamberry fundraiser that is still ongoing to raise money for the Humane Society. To date we have raised close to $100 dollars. Let's add to that total. Orders need to be placed by April 25th. Don't forget Mother's Day is coming up on May 8th. Don't know what your mom likes, Gift Cards are a great option! Let me know if you have any questions!

Hello AMC members and Advisers!

Our meeting for tomorrow, April 11 (4/11/16) has been cancelled.

If you're still interested in buying shirts for AMC, please come find me, our secretary Tabitha, Mrs. Winters, or Dr. Winters to turn in your money for the shirt. I can usually be found in Harned, but worst case scenario, just email me and we can meet up. Money for the shirts are due on Tuesday, April 12th (4/12/16) so that the shirts can be ordered and delivered before the end of the semester. They are $25.

Ancient Mediterranean Club at APSU The Ancient Mediterranean Club (AMC) is a student organization at Austin Peay State University.

We had a great time at the Zoo on Saturday! While learning about the Latin names of animals we also learned the Latin names for some heavy duty construction equipment :D Thank you to Mrs. Winters for sharing your knowledge!!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

~ T shirts - AMC decided on the black shirt with the symbols of the gods. As stated previously, these were the more expensive choice. The shirts will be $25 each. ESP decided on the red shirt with the amphora on it. These shirts will be $15 each. Please pay Tabitha or me ASAP, so that we can go ahead and order the shirts.

~ Bake Sale and Jamberry Party - Monday 4/4 and Thursday 4/7 UC lobby table 12 - 2pm. Please bring individually wrapped baked goods to Harned 117 before 11am or the UC lobby table. More information will be sent regarding the Jamberry party. All of our profits will go to the Montgomery County Humane Society.

~ Game Night - Games and pizza. Wednesday April 6th at 6:30 pm at 715 Franklin Street. If you are interested in participating, please email me ([email protected]) or Dr. Winters ([email protected]) ASAP, so that we can have a head count for pizza.

~ Lecture Event - Dr. Audrey Anton, Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Western Kentucky University, will give her talk, "Ancient Western Reconciliations of Justice and Mercy", on Friday April 8th at 3 pm in the UC room 303/305. Refreshments will also be provided. Let's have a great event and make Dr. Anton feel welcomed!

~ Nashville Zoo Trip - This event will be Saturday April 9th. If you plan on attending, please take the following survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JWQMH8V. Please be at the zoo by 9 am. If you are carpooling, please meet at the Marks parking lot at 7:30 am for departure. Carpooling is addressed in the survey. The cost of a ticket is $15. You are more than welcome to bring snacks and drinks with you. ESP members also welcome!!!

~ The Classics Department needs you! Yes, you! Enrollment numbers have dropped recently and we are trying to find new ways to reach students and educate them about how awesome our department is. If you would like to help with suggestions, please email Dr. Winters ([email protected]) or Dr. Kershner ([email protected]). Also come by Dr. Winters' office and pick up informational stuffs and post them everywhere. We want the campus painted with information about the Classics Department.

Hello AMC members and advisers!

I truly hope all of you have had a wonderful and at least slightly productive summer this year. But as we all know...the Fall 2015 semester is rearing its head and it's time for all of us to get back in gear for a hectic Fall semester. That being said, this includes hitting the ground running in regards to our AMC activities.

Our lovely President Rebecca Illig has been working very hard in preparation for this semester and has every intention of starting us off on the right foot!

Our first meeting for AMC will be Tuesday, August 25 (8/25) at 3pm in the MUC Rm. 308. At this meeting, we're going to discuss our plans for this semester in greater detail as far as something we would like to participate in, trips for the semester, and the Involvement Fair on August 26 (8/26) in the MUC Plaza from 11am-1pm. This will be a perfect opportunity to recruit new members for AMC and we definitely need volunteers to hold down the fort at our booth. If you volunteer to work the booth and you bought and AMC shirt last semester, please wear it! It's good advertising!

At our meeting on August 25 (8/25), we will also be discussing First Friday and our participation in that as well. It should be on August 28 (8/28), but we will keep all of you updated on more information as it becomes available.

For AMC officers, we have SOC meetings that you can either attend on August 24th from 5-7pm in the MUC Ballroom A or August 25th from 5-7pm in MUC Rm. 303. Rebecca and I will be attending the meeting on the 25th. If the other officers are able to attend either of these meetings, please do so that you can be up to speed on information as well. If not, then I'll be passing along information in one of these lovely emails!
