📚 First Half Day of School is Almost Here! 💚🐢

Our first half day of school is Wednesday, August 5, and a little preparation can go a long way in helping your child have a successful first day!

Here are a few things to review before they head to school:

✅ Know how they are getting home (bus, car rider, walker, daycare, or after-school program)

🚌 Know their bus number

📍 Know their bus stop location

🍎 Know their teacher's name

😴 Get a good night's sleep. We know it's tough to get back into a school routine after summer break!

First Half Day Information

📅 Wednesday, August 5
• Doors open at 8:35 a.m.
• Dismissal begins for walkers at 12:15 p.m.
• Car riders begin dismissal at 12:17 p.m.
• Buses begin dismissal at 12:20 p.m.
(Bus arrival times may vary depending on when buses arrive from their previous route.)

For the safety and security of all students, adults will not be able to enter the building with students on the first day.

Please note: Breakfast and lunch will not be served on the first half day.

Our teachers are not back on duty until Monday but that does not mean that they have not been hard at work preparing every detail to make sure their classrooms are ready to welcome our students.

In just a few days, these rooms will be filled with laughter, learning, new friendships, and so many unforgettable moments.

📝 Please write down your child's teacher's name when they call. Bring the name with you to Back to School Night so you can head straight to the classroom—no need to stop in line to find your teacher. That line can get really long!!

We had such a wonderful evening welcoming our new tortoises at Kindergarten Kickoff! 🐢

Our hearts are with the Kenwood Middle School community during this incredibly difficult time. The tragic bus accident has touched so many, and we stand in support of the students, families, staff, and first responders affected.
We are keeping you in our thoughts and sending strength, compassion, and care. In moments like these, our communities come together to lift one another up.

We are so proud of Ms. Brown for going above and beyond to secure this opportunity for students. Thank you CDE Lightband for always championing for public schools and education.

We are so appreciative for all of our amazing educational assistants, teacher residents, and media assistant.

Because of them, classrooms are more inclusive, learning is more accessible, and every student has someone in their corner. Their impact reaches far beyond academics. We appreciate them more than words can express.
