Yesterday, Austin and Elizabeth Rowland from the CSIT Department brought Booldog to the Tennessee Math Teachers Association Conference at Austin Peay State University!

Booldog had the opportunity to meet and interact with many of the bright students attending the conference while adding entertainment to the event. It was wonderful to see students engaging with computer science and math!

Faculty member Ethan Carrel and office staff Jesus Roman and Wilson St. Surin brought along our robot dog, Bulldog, which was a big hit with students! 🐕🤖

🔐💻 Cybersecurity Club Kicks Off Its Second Meeting of the Semester! 🚀
On September 16, 2026, our Cybersecurity Club was back in action! 🛡️⚡

This week's goal was to help members set up Docker on their personal computers, laying the foundation for building their own home lab servers. 🖥️🐳 Home labs provide a safe environment for students to develop hands-on cybersecurity and system administration skills.
To put those skills to the test, we worked with OWASP Juice Shop, a deliberately vulnerable web application packed with real-world security challenges and learning opportunities. 🔍🔓 Members explored vulnerabilities and began learning how cybersecurity professionals identify and address security issues.
As with any technology project, we encountered a few troubleshooting challenges along the way! 🛠️😄 To keep everyone moving forward, members were able to use a preconfigured MacBook running Docker and OWASP Juice Shop while we worked through installation issues.

📚 Before our next meeting, members will receive step-by-step installation guides tailored to their operating systems so everyone can get their home labs up and running.
It's exciting to see our students gaining practical, hands-on experience and building the cybersecurity skills that employers value. 💪🔐

🤖🎓 The CSIT Department had an amazing time visiting ROSSVIEW HIGH School and KIRKWOOD HIGH School this week! On September 16, 2026, we visited two high schools in one day and had a fantastic opportunity to connect with local students. 🎉

Faculty member Ethan Carrel, along with office staff Jesus Roman and Wilson St. Surin, brought APSU's robot dog, Bulldog, and shared insights about CSIT majors, technology careers, and opportunities in the computing field. 🚀💻

Building connections with future Govs is one of our favorite things to do. We can't wait to see what the future holds! 🟥

🤖🐾 Connecting Technology and Community! 9/9/2026, the Clarksville Civitan Club welcomed Dr. James Church and Professor Ethen Carrell as guest speakers to introduce the CSIT Department and Booldog, CSIT's robotic dog. The presentation sparked engaging conversations about robotics, artificial intelligence, and the future of assistive technologies.

Attendees asked thoughtful questions about whether Booldog's movements and behaviors are inspired by real animals and how close robotic companions may be to supporting individuals with disabilities. 🦾💡

Booldog quickly became a crowd favorite, delighting the audience with several impressive demonstrations and tricks throughout the event. 🐕

🤖 The visit also provided an opportunity to showcase the innovative research and hands-on projects being conducted by CSIT faculty and students in robotics, AI, cybersecurity, and other emerging technologies.

📅 September 12, 2026 | 🎮💻🤖 We kicked off our Fall 2026 Saturday Program with Class 2: Code Your Own ROBLOX Games! 🎉

Students in grades 6-12 took their first steps into the exciting world of computing and game development by learning how to create their own ROBLOX experiences. From designing virtual worlds 🌎 to bringing interactive ideas to life ✨, participants explored the fundamentals of coding while unleashing their creativity.

A special thank you to our instructor, Jackson, who did a fantastic job guiding students through the game creation process. 👏 His enthusiasm and hands-on approach helped make learning both engaging and fun. Students asked great questions, experimented with new ideas, and gained valuable skills that can serve as a foundation for future studies and careers in technology.

We are excited to see what these young developers create in the weeks ahead and look forward to another great semester of inspiring the next generation of innovators, programmers, and technology leaders! 🚀🎮💡

Clarksville Civitan Club Visit: 9/9/2026, Dr. James Church and Professor Ethen Carrell served as guest speakers for the Clarksville Civitan Club, showcasing Booldog, CSIT's robotic dog.
