Something can look beautiful immediately after styling and still have problems underneath that show up on Day 2 or Day 3.

That's why I don't judge a wash-and-go only by how defined it looks while it's wet.

One of my favorite parts of doing these workshops is watching everything start making sense when someone understands WHY they're doing each step instead of simply being told which product to use.

That's really where natural hair gets easier.

Not when you memorize more rules.

It started with what happened BEFORE styling.

When I'm trying to get a wash-and-go to last, I'm looking at things like:

• how thoroughly the hair was cleansed
• the condition of the hair before product application
• water + product distribution
• how the hair was dried

The styling product matters.

But it can't always compensate for problems in the process.

That's why constantly changing products isn't necessarily the answer.

If your natural hairstyle isn't lasting, don't automatically assume the product failed.

Before changing gels, creams or mousses, look at the process:
• Was the hair thoroughly cleansed?
• Was enough water used during styling?
• Was product distributed evenly?
• Did the hair dry completely?

Sometimes the product isn't the problem at all.
