We are so excited to celebrate Ms. Nitschke, who was the lucky winner of the CMC Education Foundation Teacher Warehouse Giveaway! 🥳📚✏️

Good afternoon Kenwood families,
Happy Sunday! I hope everyone has enjoyed a wonderful weekend, even though fall weather seems to be nowhere in sight! At KES, we have a ton of great things going on this week. Thursday, right before our second round of Parent-Teacher conferences, we will host our Annual Title 1 Meeting and KES 101 Night on September 24th at 4:00 in the cafeteria. Feel free to bring your children. We will have coffee, water and light refreshments.

It is a double fun kind of week with Book Fair and Kenwood High School's homecoming week going on and we are excited to celebrate with them. Our dress up days are listed below and we will also participate with them in the parade on Thursday, September 24th around 9:45--anyone wanting to attend the parade should plan to bring a chair a set up outside around campus; you will not be checking into the building for the event. For book fair, you are free to send money in with your student, or come and check in as a visitor and take your student shopping. There is also an online account option if you would like to add money.

🔴🟡🔵 Dot Day + STEM = A Sweet Challenge! 🔵🟡🔴

Students in Ms. Smith’s 2nd grade class put their creativity to work for a special Dot Day STEM Challenge! Using only DOTS candy and toothpicks, students designed and built their own unique structures. 🏗️🍬

After building, they compared their creations with others in their group and discovered an important lesson: even when everyone starts with the exact same materials, the results can look completely different! 💡

What a great way to celebrate creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and the idea that there is more than one way to create something amazing! ❤️

Today we’re celebrating Mrs. Hayhurst for being an amazing mentor and teammate! 🖤💛

Mrs. Hayhurst was recognized by Mrs. Castleberry for the guidance, feedback, and encouragement she provides as an MCL. Kara shared how Mrs. Hayhurst is always looking for ways to help students succeed while keeping learning fun…and how thankful she is for the support Mrs. Hayhurst has given her as she grows as an educator. 🍎✨

As part of Dolly Day on September 25, we’ll celebrate Dolly Parton’s incredible impact on early childhood literacy through her beloved Imagination Library.

Families can stop by to learn more and sign up eligible children ages 5 and under to receive a FREE book delivered to their home every month.

You will also be able to make a donation to the Imagination Library of Montgomery County, Tennessee, and help put more books into the hands and homes of local children.

🚌💛 Bus Driver Appreciation! 💛🚌

This week, we celebrated the amazing bus drivers who help get our Knights to and from school safely each and every day! From the early morning routes to the afternoon ride home, our drivers play such an important role in caring for our students and keeping our school community moving. 🖤💛

We were happy to show them a little extra love this week with some special treats and gifts as a small way of saying THANK YOU for all they do! 🎁✨

To our bus drivers: we appreciate your patience, dedication, early mornings, and the care you show our students every single day. We are so grateful you’re part of our Kenwood family! 🚌🥰

We had a very special visitor at Kenwood today! 💛🖤

Our Director of Schools, Dr. Jean Luna-Vedder, stopped by for a visit—and of course, we couldn’t let her leave without being officially sorted into a House! 🏰✨ The wheel made its decision, and Dr. Luna-Vedder is now a proud member of ISIBINDI — the House of Courage! 🦁💪

She also joined in on some of our Friday fun by spinning our weekly prize wheel and helping us surprise one of our teachers with a special gift! 🎉🎁

We loved having Dr. Luna-Vedder spend some time with our Knights and experience a little of the school spirit that makes Kenwood so special. Welcome to the House family, Dr. Luna-Vedder! ❤️
